Aspidistra eliator will survive under very adverse conditions. It's almost indestructible, but grows very well when given proper care. They have dark green oblong ovular leaves about 2.5 feet (77 cm) long and 4 inches (10 cm) wide. It's an ideal plant for beginners. Try it.

Your cast Iron plant requires diffused/filtered to low light.

Temperature and Humidity


Requires cool temperature and medium humidity.

Soil


Use an all-purpose soil mix.

Water


Keep your cast iron plant soil mix relatively dry all year round.

Fertilize your cast iron plant regularly in spring and summer.

Pests and Diseases


The cast iron plant is susceptible to mites and scale. Treat with warm soapy water. If infestation is severe, spray with Malathion or Diazinon.

Propagation


To propagate divide your cast iron plant and repot in an all-purpose soil mix.
