Artificial lighting for indoor plants
When arranging groups of plants or individual plants indoors, particular care must be taken that the lighting is adequate. A plant stood in a dark corner contributes little to the appearance of the room, yet the same plant, artificially lit, improves out of all recognition. Use light to enhance the appearance your plants in the same way as the shopkeeper does to brighten his wares; though with plants, softer lighting is more effective.
A fireplace display
During summer months the disused fireplace is a favorite position for indoor plants. When such a position is chosen for plants, take precaution of blocking off the chimney vent with a piece of cardboard, otherwise they will quickly succumb to the draughty conditions. Unless the room is particularly well lit, it is better to confine one’s choice to the hardier varieties when decorating the fireplace, and preferably to green-leaved sorts. The fireplace is often the ideal place for arranging a temporary display of plants for a special occasion, when other space may be at a premium

Parties and house plants don’t agree!
Here one might add a further note of warning ; at party time plants will be much safer if they are transferred to an upstairs bedroom. Guests who are having just one more drink pressed on them are not above emptying the unwanted alcohol into the convenient receptacle provided by a indoor house pant pot! .The damage does not become apparent until some time later, and the house plants sudden failure unusally remains a mystery.
